PSS errors, freezes, locks up or crashes when X camera streams are running

Being that the PSS is a hardware manufacturer’s (Dahua) software, it is not optimized to be a large scale stand-alone solution.  The PSS requires a powerful computer to run a large camera system.  DH Vision suggests these specs:

For all setups, a multicore processor is highly recommended as the PSS heavily utilizes the CPU.

  • For small systems (1-4 cameras):
    • Intel i3 2.9GHz Dual-core processor (or equivalent AMD processor) or higher
    • 4GB of RAM
    • Integrated graphics
  • For intermediate systems (5-8 cameras):
    • Intel i5 3Ghz Quad-core processor (or equivalent AMD processor) or higher
    • 8GB of RAM
    • Dedicated PCI-E Video Card (NVIDIA GeForce 200 series GPU or AMD equivalent or higher)
  • For large systems (9-24 cameras):
    • Intel i7 3.5Ghz Quad-core processor (or equivalent AMD processor) or higher
    • 16GB of RAM
    • Dedicated PCI-E Video Card (NVIDIA GeForce 400 series GPU or AMD equivalent or higher)

Even though PSS has the capability to view up to 64 cameras simultaneously, 25 or higher camera systems have not been tested by DH Vision.  We recommend using a stand-alone video recorder or compression card for larger scale applications.
